Elwick attracts two Kiwi stayers

TWO quality New Zealand stayers are among the entries for the $225,000 Hobart Cup at Elwick on Sunday week.

Titch, trained by Kevin Myers, won the group 1 Auckland Cup in March last year and has earned $750,000 in stakes.

Roi D'Jeu, trained by Shaune Ritchie, has also contested group 1 races and ran second to Six O'Clock News in the group 3 Trentham Stakes 11 days ago.

The 20 Hobart Cup entries also include Peter Moody's in-form mare Power O'Raylee, winner of her past five starts in Victoria.

Mike Moroney has entered imported stayer Drunken Sailor, who ran seventh in last year's Caulfield Cup, and Viking Hero, winner of the group 2 Eclipse Stakes at Sandown in 2010.

Michael, Wayne and John Hawkes have nominated last-start Caulfield winner Rainbow Styling while Danny O'Brien has entered Saturday's Sandown winner Placement.

Only six Tasmanian horses have been entered, headed by the state's outstanding galloper Geegees Blackflash.
