IN-FORM mare Benediction will be aiming for her fifth win on end when she contests the Northern Tasmanian Light Harness Cup at Mowbray on Sunday night.
The mare has won all but one of her five starts this season and has drawn perfectly to keep her winning sequence going.
In her heat of the NTLHA Cup a week ago, Benediction defied her opposition to run her down and on Sunday premier reinsman Gareth Rattray will get the chance to direct proceedings from the pole.
Benediction is part-owned by the Rattray Family Trust and this season she has matured and is showing the potential expected of her.
Her dam Queen Carey won 18 of her 52 races and retired with prizemoney of over $165,000 and she is now making her mark as a broodmare.
Benediction is her first foal to race and she has also produced a two-year-old full brother and a colt by Art Major.
Harness racing form analyst Robin Wilson expects Benediction to lead and win on Sunday night and she heads the betting at $3.
But she won't have everything her own way as other heat winner Glory Jasper was just as impressive last week and former top two-year-old Quastor Centurion also poses a threat.
Glory Jasper came off 10 metres in his heat win and gave nothing else a chance as he dashed away in the straight for trainer-driver Nathan Ford.
Trainer Barrie Rattray looks to have a good night ahead of him with several other key runners including unraced two-year-old Delightful Christian in the $10,000 Keith Stanley Debutante Stakes.
Delightful Christian is by champion sire Christian Cullen and has shown ability at the trials.
He will meet an experienced field which includes recent winners The Mint and Like It Is.
