THE Launceston Greyhound Racing Club has received 163 nominations for tonight's race meeting at Mowbray.
It has brought together a big 11-race meeting and with another 11 races planned for Devonport tomorrow it has forced administrators to consider an increase to 12 races.
Winners will be hard to find tonight, although the Keith Nichols-trained Portrait Ignites appears to have a mortgage on the Big Dog Rising Stars final.
He was the fastest qualifier from last week's heats in a time of 29.89 seconds.
Custodian, prepared at Colebrook by Steve O'Brien, won his heat impressively in 30.05 and is ideally drawn in box 1.
Jethro continued on his winning way in Hobart on Thursday night after winning his heat well, although he is an ordinary beginner.
The best value runner in the race is Topline Dee trained by veteran mentor Les Barker at Carrick.
Although drawn in box 8 she has won her past three starts and has been heavily supported at good odds in each of her wins.
The other feature on tonight's card are the four heats of the Tote 600 metres for juvenile and grade 5 greyhounds.
The four best chances in the heats appear to be Withcott Warrior (Greg Homan) in the first heat, Harry's Pick (Len Howard) in heat 2, Wynburn Whirl (Scott Bryan) in heat 3 and Back Page Lead (Wayne Smith) in heat 4.
