Rewind could be Tasmania's best cup hope

06 Feb, 2012 03:00 AM
THE Launceston Greyhound Club has attracted 69 nominations for the Launceston Cup, with heats tonight and the final next week.

Victorian supremo Graeme Bate has five runners for the Wheeler family, of New South Wales, with Radley Bale, Shereen Bale, Tonneli Bale, Carol Allen and David Bale as his chances.

Bracknell's veteran trainer Maurie Strickland has Rewind, second in the Hobart Thousand and winner of the Devonport Cup, as possibly Tasmania's best hope.

Victoria's Jamie Ennis has only one starter in Strong Intention, which has drawn to perfection in box one in heat eight.

Rowella trainer Terry Penny is sure to play a strong hand with Clydes Angel, Miss Roman Nose and Pennys Angel - all litter mates to the brilliant Rewind.

NSW trainer Steve White has three runners in Paua of Love, Paua of Darkness and Apparently So.

Penguin trainer Butch Deverall has the brilliant youngster Jethro, owned by Leigh Alexander, in one of the toughest heats, but he is ideally drawn.
