LEADING Victorian trainer Graeme Bate has three of the four top-seeded greyhounds for the group 2 Launceston Cup.
Radley Bale, Shereen Bale and Tonneli Bale, along with local star Rewind, had been rated the best-performed of a star-studded lineup of entries.
The four top seeds have been drawn in separate heats next Monday night so as not to clash before the final, to be run at Mowbray the following week.
The Launceston Greyhound Racing Club is delighted with the quality of entries, according to spokesman Richard Stamford.
``Some of the best greyhounds in the country will be coming here in preference to travelling to Western Australia for the Perth Cup,'' he said.
``That way they can avoid the heat - greyhounds don't travel well in hot weather - and get a good lead-in to the Australian Cup later in the month.''
Radley Bale is the second highest ranked greyhound in Australia.
He has won 33 races and $452,000 and has been a multiple group 1 placegetter this season.
Shereen Bale is ranked seventh in Australia and boasts 19 wins and $238,000 in stakes.
She won the group 1 Maturity Classic last year and ran second in this season's Melbourne Cup.
Tonneli Bale, ranked ninth in the country, has won 19 races and $175,000,
She has won the group 3 Darwin Cup and ran second in the group 1 Sapphire Crown.
Rewind, trained at Bracknell by Maurie Strickland, has been in outstanding recent form, finishing a close second in the Hobart Thousand before winning the Devonport Cup.
He has won 29 of his 45 starts and earned $134,000.
