Youngsters ready for challenge

07 Feb, 2012 03:00 AM
ANY adult riders daunted by the prospect of the Blue Dragon Challenge should take a look at Longford brothers Ewan and Innes Ferrier.

With a combined age of just 24, the siblings will take on the event in a team named The Rapid Ferrets.

``I'm looking forward to it,'' said Innes, 11, of East Launceston Primary School. ``The climb at the start of day one will be hard but I reckon we'll make that up on the downhills.''

Ewan, 13, of Launceston Church Grammar School, added: ``Yeah, those are the bits I'm looking forward to.''

The pair take part in the Launceston Mountain Bike Club's Wednesday night series and have contested two, four, six and even 12-hour enduros, the latter with Wyena brothers Alex and Ben Lack.

They also compete against adults at C grade but Ewan admitted: ``They don't like letting us past much.''
