The Football Tasmanian board member responsible for the TSFL, Doug Davey, said yesterday that the meeting with clubs had been positive and productive.
``I'd have to say that in my time with the TFL that this was one of the best meetings involving the clubs that I have been to,'' Davey said.
``Under the new Football Tasmania structure the TSFL is responsible for its own destiny.
``The meeting agreed to reduce next season's salary cap from $110,000 to $90,000 and also establish a senior player list of 48, plus six supplementaries, by the third week in March.''
Davey said that under the new Football Tasmania structure, a representative from each of the eight clubs, the FT board member and the football manager and his assistant would focus entirely on the TSFL.
``The new football manager will travel the State helping to promote the senior competition and also helping the clubs individually.
``I think it's fair to say that the clubs are quite excited by the prospect of controlling their own competition and the sense of ownership that comes with that.''
Davey said that the clubs also took away a draft roster for 1999, which would start on April 10 _ the week after Easter.
By having a senior list of 48 plus six by mid-March, country clubs will also know which players are available for their competitions.
Davey said that the TSFL board would probably meet every two weeks early in the new year until the roster started.
