LAUNCESTON will host five Australian Netball League matches at the Silverdome this weekend.
The round-six matches will see South Australia, Canberra Darters and Netball New South Wales Waratahs visit the state to play each other and Tassie Spirit across the weekend.
Tassie Spirit has had a stellar season so far, winning three of its seven matches beating Territory Storm, Western Australia and Singapore.
Spirit coach Aaron Pidgeon was hopeful of adding to those wins this weekend in front of a home crowd.
In its first encounter of the weekend, the Spirit will meet South Australia tomorrow night.
Both teams are sitting on three wins from seven games.
Pidgeon said South Australia had improved during the season but if the Tasmanian side could recapture its form of the first two weeks it had the potential to win.
The Spirit will need to back it up on Saturday night in another tough game against the Canberra Darters.
Tasmania has not beaten Canberra in the Australian Netball League but Pidgeon was confident this weekend.
In its third and final game of the season, the Spirit will play Netball NSW Waratahs, who sit third on the ladder.
Consistent performers for Tassie this season have been goalies Kate Costelloe and Melissa McCauley, as well as Natasha Westbrook in defence. Other strong contributors to the side include Hayley Sansom and Steffi Grenda.
These players will need to continue their good form this weekend to help the Spirit get more wins on the board.
Captain Natasha Wylie is unavailable to play this weekend. Chelsea Coleman will join the team in her first weekend of ANL competition.
