BRENDAN Fevola refused to stop drinking and leave Crown Casino when asked to by security staff following Monday night's Brownlow medal count, a Crown spokesman has revealed.
Speaking to radio 3AW today, Crown Casino spokesman Gary O'Neill said Fevola was clearly drunk and refused requests by Crown employees to call it a night.
"They clearly thought he's had too much to drink," said Mr O'Neill.
"We asked him to stop and to leave the premises. Brendan Fevola, drunk or sober, is not the smallest bloke in the room and you don't want to necessarily confront him.
"Finally, with the help of his mates from the football club we were able to convince him that the better course of action was to leave."
Mr O'Neill said the Carlton spearhead did not get physical with the Crown staff, but "he was clearly not going to co-operate with the security people alone", and "wasn't being the nicest person you ever want to meet in your whole life".
Despite Fevola being allowed to continue drinking, Crown denied it breached liquor licensing laws which forbid serving alcohol to already drunk patrons.
"We meet our requirements as we are expected to do," Mr O'Neill said.
"If Brendan Fevola has a drinking problem, and he clearly does, Crown cannot fix his drinking problem. His drinking problem needs professional attention.
"As I've been informed, the alcohol that was provided to Brendan Fevola was provided at Brendan Fevola's table as part of the Brownlow catering arrangements.
"We do have a record of dealing with these situations fairly responsibly, in fact very responsibly."
