Youth cup `develops girls' skills'

31 Jan, 2012 03:00 AM
FEMALE cricketers from the North, North-West and the South will continue to battle it out today and tomorrow for the Commonwealth Girls Intrastate Cup.

The three-day series got off to a slow start yesterday at Riverside and Invermay Park after much of it was washed out due to rain.

Around 80 girls from around the state are representing their region in under-16 and under-13 teams during the three-day round robin tournament.

Cricket Tasmania game development officer in the North Adam Drinkwell said the event aimed to encourage girls to learn how to play cricket and to develop their skills.
