The 17-year-old was yesterday delighted to be named in the junior Cyclones team to contest the UCI junior track world championships in Invercargill in August.

A member of the team pursuit that won last year in Moscow, the Launceston College student said she would love to follow the biketracks of Cure, whose junior world championship defence saw her claim three more rainbow jerseys.

''I would love to do what Amy achieved but she rode awesome that year and won virtually every event she went in, so it's a pretty hard challenge,'' Baker said.

''I'm really excited to be in the team and know it's going to be a lot harder second time around because there is more pressure and I really wanted to make it with so many new girls coming into the picture.''

In addition to winning the team pursuit in Moscow last year, Baker finished second in the scratch race and ninth in the individual pursuit, all events she hopes to ride again in New Zealand.

''I won't really know which events I'll do until the training camps but I'd just want to take on as many as possible.

''I've never been to New Zealand before so it should be great and I understand the track there is really fast so I'm looking forward to it.''

Baker is one of five members of the team lining up for the second time, after contesting the 2011 titles, and will be joined by nine riders making their track world championships debut.

Jack Cummings, Alex Morgan and Taylah Jennings also head to New Zealand as defending world champions in the team pursuit events with Jennings also the reigning omnium world champion.
