Don joint top after narrow 11-run win

Don and Port Sorell are top of the ladder after the 15th round of A Grade played yesterday.

Don had a narrow 11-run win over Sassafras, Port Sorell defeated Forth by 55 runs and Mersey Colts defeated Spreyton by nine runs.

In the game at Don the home side batted first and was all out for 162 in 40 overs.

Three Don batsmen got into the twenties - Graham Appleby, Brett Collins and Beau Sharman.

Matty Wall was the star for the Red Dirters with four wickets.

The Sassafras reply was in tatters at 8-63 before Matty Wall and Adam Jeffrey piled on 86 runs for the ninth wicket.

The partnership came to an end when Wall was caught by Dylan Rouse off the bowling of Appleby.

Steve Ryan once again starred with the ball for the Steamers with four wickets and Sharman and Corey Plumbridge each snared two.

This win gives Don top spot on the ladder by per percentage.

Port Sorell batted first in the game at Forth and compiled 8-171 off its 50 overs.

The Magpie reply was marked by the loss of regular wickets.

The Shark bowlers shared the wickets around with David Lange, Richie Glover, Shaun Cooper and Scott Denby all grabbing multiple wickets.

The final game at Spreyton was also close with Mersey colts keeping its final four hopes alive with a narrow nine-run win over the home side.
