THE Launceston Tornadoes yesterday announced a new-look coaching panel for the 2012 SEABL season with former coach Rick Wyllie returning to the helm.
Wyllie will share the coaching duties with former Tornadoes captain and 150-game veteran Brodie Clark with experienced youth development and state teams coach Donna Mitchell coming onboard as a skills specialist.
Wyllie coached the Torns for two seasons in 2009-10 taking the club to a grand final in his second year.
He boasts extensive basketball experience as a former 150-game SEABL player and assistant coach with the Launceston Tigers.
Wyllie said he was enthusiastic about the season.
``(I'm) back in the hot seat and I'm looking forward to it because we've got an exciting season coming forward,'' Wyllie said.
``I've got a whole new support staff with Brodie underpinning me on game nights and Donna, a former head coach of the club, who has been around basketball for about 28 years and done everything in the state.''
Wyllie said having the new coaching panel and club committee in place boded well for a successful season.
The Tornadoes are in negotiations to secure two or three import players with the rest of the team to be made up of local talent such as Zoe Mitchell, Olivia Howard, Stacey Poke and up-and-coming youngsters Emma Davey and Lauren Faulkner.
The team starts pre-season training on Monday, at the Launceston Grammar School, from 6pm, with all potential players welcome.
The Tornadoes' first fixture of the season is at home against Sandringham on March 17.
The club will hold a volunteers night on Tuesday at the Elphin Sports Centre, from 7pm, to enlist recruits to help out at home games.
The season launch will be held on Friday, February 24, at Launceston's Manhattan Wine Bar.
