RACHELLE Taylor, of Western Suburbs, raced her last interclub last week and put in an under-16 Northern best performance in the 3000-metre walk with 15.17.61.
Taylor's last competition for Tasmania will be when she competes at the youth championships in Sydney in March.
Hobart race walker Tahlia Hunt, of Old Virgilians, broke her own under-14 state record with 15.26.48.
Samuel Alderson, of Newstead Harriers, threw the discus in an under-16 qualifying standard of 48.23m.
In the 100-metre sprint Ross Lovell, of North Launceston, dominated in a time of 11.29 and Darcy Lahey, also of North Launceston, took the 400m in 51.07.
In the women's throws Jasmine Turner, of Western Suburbs, took out the shot with 11.38m and discus with 25.99m and came second in the hammer with 24.19m from Morgan Pinner, of North Launceston, who threw 28.49m, and was second in shot with 9.72m and discus with 23.15m.
Courtney Stanley, of Western Suburbs, was the first Tasmanian athlete in the women's 400m in a time of 60.81 against a class field including Sarah Carli (59.15) and Mel Logan (60.68), both of New South Wales.
This Saturday many athletes will be competing at the St Helens Carnival and entries are high with the men's gift fielding six heats.
The next interclub meet will be on Tuesday, January 24, at St Leonards, and on Saturday, January 28, St Leonards will host the second statewide interclub.
Masters
IN THE recent Australian Masters half-marathon championship Northern medal winners were - Gold: - Phil Clarke, Shaun O'Regan, Nye Evans and Emma Butler; Silver: Sam Wierenga, Gill Gardner and Marcus Butler; Bronze: Alwynne McMahon, Deb O'Regan and Wayne Tibbets.
As of today, Masters return to normal Wednesday nights with a program featuring 800m, 200m, 4000m and shot.
