FEW Northern athletes competed in Hobart at the Southern Interclub at the Domain on Saturday, among some great competition.
James Hansen, of North Launceston, won the men's 800 metre in 1.53.80s, from training partner Jerome Whiteley who clocked 1.54.65s.
Rachelle Taylor, of Western Suburbs, came second in the 3000m walk in a season-best time of 15.27.29s.
Tahlia Hunt, of Old Virginians, came third in an under-14 state-record time of 15.43.43s.
Charlie Leek, of Hobart Athletic Club, won the men's 100m in 10.98s, the second time he has run under 11 seconds this season.
In the same race, Russell Taib, of Old Virginians, broke his own under-14 state record in 11.47s.
Andrew Hay, of Newstead Harriers, ran 11.70s in the 100m and came second in the 200m in a time of 23.39s.
Tasmanian Combined Event will be held in Hobart this year, on January 14 and 15.
On the same weekend, the Tasmanian 10,000 Race Walk Championships will be held in Hobart on the Sunday.

If athletes are under 20 on December 31 this year, they may be eligible to compete at the Australian Youth Championships in Sydney in March.

The nomination form and compulsory deposit must be handed to Athletics Tasmania officials by 5pm on Monday, February 6.
Briggs Classic
The 2012 Briggs Athletics Classic will be held at the Domain Athletic Centre, Hobart on Saturday, February 4 from 5.30pm to 8.45pm.
Tickets will be available through Centertainment, the Athletics Tasmania office or through affiliated clubs at a pre-purchase price.
Tickets are also available on the day.
Parking will be available.
