Time to take a plunge and fight sizzling heat

21 Jan, 2012 03:00 AM
IN Tasmania, they say you can experience four seasons in one day.

Well, there was only one season in Launceston yesterday - hot.

And if the Bureau of Meterology stats are anything to go by, we can expect more of the same glorious summer weather throughout the weekend.

It was 26 degrees in the city at 1.30pm yesterday.

By 7.30pm, the temperature had only dropped to as far as 22 degrees.

Even the chance of a shower on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday won't stop the mercury from reaching 28 and 29 degrees.

It will be slightly cooller for Launceston's Australia Day celebrations on Thursday, but there's a good chance residents will still hit the pool.

The hottest temperature for the year so far was 29.4 degrees last Wednesday.
