The heat is back as cold front moves on

14 Jan, 2012 03:00 AM
FOR the past week it has seemed that perhaps summer is over, with chilly Antarctic winds dropping temperatures all over Tasmania and the south-east of Australia, and some alpine areas on the mainland indicating record lows for this time of year.

Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Phil Perkins said the good news was that the cold air had now moved on and the bureau was expecting a return to temperatures in the mid to high 20s.

He said the state could expect the more stable south-easterly winds to bring warmer air from the Bight and inland Australia heating up temperatures around the state hopefully for a few weeks to come.

The Bureau of Meteorology is expecting a high of 24 degrees today and a high of 25 tomorrow, with possible showers anticipated.
