WHILE Tasmania's teachers remain unclear on who to back on March 20, they stand united on one front: David Bartlett's Labor Government should not be returned to power.
About 300 people converged on Parliament lawns in Hobart yesterday for the Australian Education Union's "Day of Action", to protest for the roll back of the State Government's Tasmania Tomorrow reforms.
The future of post year 10 reforms remains a key difference between the major political parties' election platforms, with the Liberals and Greens promising to roll back the reform if successful at the state poll and the Labor party standing by the changes.
Nine speakers, including Greens leader Nick McKim, Opposition spokeswoman Vanessa Goodwin and Denison independent candidate Andrew Wilkie, addressed the crowd.
Premier and Education Minister David Bartlett was not invited to address the rally.
Rosny College vice- principal Geoff Colliss's rendition of Can't Take My Eyes Off You summed up the mood of the day:
"I'm voting Greens now if it's quite all right, and Liberal maybe now that they've got it right, I'm over Labor, can't be allowed their own way," he sung.
Launceston College's Gary Bensemen roused applause when calling for Education Department secretary John Smyth to step down.
