Hung parliament still most likely: new poll

19 Mar, 2010 01:43 PM
ANOTHER poll has signalled a hung parliament in Tasmania after tomorrow's state election.

The Newspoll conducted for The Australian newspaper and published today, shows the Labor and Liberal parties locked on 10 seats apiece, with the Greens set to win five.

The poll echoes a recent EMRS poll commissioned for The Examiner and published last week, which also indicated that a hung parliament was the most likely outcome of tomorrow's election.

Today's Newspoll of about 1500 voters, which was conducted this week, has Labor's primary support at 35 per cent, compared to the Liberal's 36.5 per cent, and the Green's 25.5 per cent.

Greens leader Nick McKim rated the highest in the performance stakes, with 58 per cent satisfied and 32 dissatisfied.

Premier David Bartlett's performance was rated at 38 per cent satisfied and 56 per cent dissatisfied.

Liberal Leader Will Hodgman's performance ratings came in at 53 per cent satisfied and 37 dissatisfied.
