New Economic Development Minister David O'Byrne yesterday used his second day in the job to launch the government's economic development strategy discussion paper.
The paper details how the government intends to drive development.
It wants to support and grow businesses, maximising Tasmania's economic potential in key sectors; improve the social and environmental sustainability of the economy; and grow communities within regions.
Mr O'Byrne said the 10-year strategy would be launched in June next year after rigorous stakeholder consultation.
But Opposition Leader Will Hodgman said it was another sign that the Labor-Green government was failing to deliver.
The Liberals have been calling for an economic development plan for months.
"Today, the Economic Development Minister could only talk about a plan for a plan," Mr Hodgman said.
"We need a government that has ideas and solutions, not one that is crippled by inertia and indecision."
The discussion paper is open for comment until January 31, it can be accessed at www.development.tas.gov.au/ edp.
