Tasmanian swine flu cases now at 46

TASMANIA has now recorded a total of 46 Human Swine Flu cases, with 16 still active, as health authorities downgrade their response to the virus.The Public Health Department said there were four new cases overnight -- four in the South, one from the North and Noth-West.There are currently 6 probable cases."Of the 46 confirmed cases to date, 22 have been in the NW, 10 in the North, 12 in the South and 2 are from interstate who had travelled to Tasmania and became unwell." Tasmania will join the rest of the country in revising its response to Human Swine Flu in the coming week, with the transition to be completed by Friday, June 26."As we are currently in the transition phase, Public Health will be contacting all active confirmed cases and their contacts in the coming days."What the transition to PROTECT means for Tasmanians currently in home isolation:* From next week, contacts of confirmed or probable cases will not be required to stay in home quarantine.* Tasmanians who become unwell with symptoms of flu should stay home for seven days after the onset of illness (this should happen with all influenza).* Contacts still within their quarantine period should remain in home quarantine for thee advised period, up until Sunday.Anyone with questions about swine flu should phone the flu hotline on 1800 358 362 (1800 FLU DOC).
