06 Feb, 2012 03:00 AM
A 49-YEAR-OLD Waverley woman was taken to the Launceston General Hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation after a kitchen fire yesterday.

Tasmania Fire Service crews were called to the woman's Fryett Street home at 9.38am.

A fire service spokesman said the stove had caught fire, but the fire was extinguished on arrival.

Ambulance workers treated the woman and a male before taking her to hospital.

Police said the woman was not seriously injured.
