Amelia McQueen and Dean Cross, of Melbourne, are in the state to work with students as part of the Tasdance Education Program.
The annual program involves the teachers going into schools and sharing skills and techniques with students as well as later auditioning for the company's Education Performance project, this year titled Cross Currents.
Dance teacher Belinda Selby said it was a great thing for the school to have the choreographers running a workshop with its grade 9 and 10 students.
``It gives the kids a different perspective and a new look at contemporary technique,'' she said.
Mr Cross said he had so far been surprised at the standard of talent he had seen around the state.
``They (the students) have been throwing themselves at everything that we give them, which is very rewarding and exciting for us,'' he said.
They will hold auditions at a later date for 15 young people from around the state to perform Cross Currents in Hobart, Launceston and Devonport.
The two teachers will be visiting schools on the North-West Coast in the coming week.
