DINGHIES sailed in perfect conditions at Beauty Point on day one of the Tamar Marine Go Sailing Blockbuster Weekend yesterday.
Around 50 boats took part in the two-day regatta, that continues today.
The regatta, hosted by the Port Dalrymple Yacht Club and in its 12th year, has attracted entrants from interstate including a group of six Victorians.
Reigning B14 class world champion Guy Bancrof, of Victoria, is among those competing.
He took out race two, three and four yesterday to lead the B14 class with crew member Lachlan Imeneo.
Male and females aged 10 to 65 took part in the regatta, collecting points across eight races in total.
Regatta co-ordinator Peter Sluce said today's racing would make it clearer as to who would take out their class overall.
There was one course for the Sabot and Optimist classes and another for the B14, NS14 and Laser classes.
Mr Sluce said the regatta was the second time the NS14 class had sailed in the North of the state.
He said it was good preparation before the club hosted the nationals for the first time at Christmas.
Racing kicks off today at noon.
