A SEARCH has begun in the Cockle Creek area of Tasmania's South-West National Park for a man reported missing from his campsite.
Police say the man, aged in his 30s, was camping when it appears he became lost while looking for firewood.
"The Westpac police rescue helicopter is heading to the area, with two search and rescue personnel to be dropped off to add to the land search, with a further two personnel searching from the air," a police spokesman said.

Meanwhile Devonport police are hunting for the attacker of a 71-year-old man at the Mersey Valley Workers Club, in Stewart Street, early this morning.
They say a man entered the club between the hours of 4 am and 5.30am this morning and attacked the cleaner.
"The 71-year-old cleaner, who also suffers from Parkinsons disease, was struck to the head from behind with an unknown object causing him to fall to the ground," a police spokesman said.
"Whilst the victim was dazed and lying on the ground the offender searched the building for property and cash before leaving."
Police said the victim received cuts and bruising to the right side of his head and attended hospital for treatment and observation.
Police say they are concerned regarding the unprovoked nature of the assault.
