THE Tasmanian Motorcycle Club has run monthly ride days at Symmons Plains for more than 20 years.
Acacia Hills partners Kim Bissett and Sandra Webb have been regular participants for the past seven years and said that they had learnt a lot from their participation.
Club president Paddy Marshall said that the aim of the sessions was to improve road riders' skills and keep them safe on the road.
``Participants are segregated according to ability and learn observational, braking and cornering skills that will help them better deal with the conditions and traffic they face on the road,'' Mr Marshall said.
Tasmanian Motorcycle Council president Shaun Lennard urged motorcyclists to participate in ride day sessions or one of the MAIB-subsidised motorcycle refresher courses.
Mr Lennard said that the more skills motorcyclists learned, the safer they were on the road and the less likely they were to become an accident statistic.
Mr Lennard's comments come after two separate motorcycle accidents on Saturday left two riders with minor injuries and another in intensive care.
Mr Marshall said that club members like two-time Australian Superbike champion Malcolm Campbell provided ride day participants with theory sessions and observed their track time, with even proficient riders leaving sessions ``having learned a thing or two''.
Participants must be club members and have at least a Motorcycling Australia-approved recreational licence - both are available on the day.
Ride days cost $100, but those helping at ride or race days received a free ride day, he said.
Mr Marshall said that the club was also looking for new, younger committee members to introduce new ideas and be in a position to take over the reins in the future.
