Missing bushwalkers found

04 Feb, 2012 09:59 AM
Two men who went missing in Leven Canyon in the state's North-West have been found safe and well.

The two men, from Victoria, were reported as missing last night after failing to return from a walk at 7.30pm.

Police were notified the men were missing and began searching walking tracks at 10.30pm.

Search and Rescue Police and the State Emergency Service also took part in the search. A search base was set up at the Leven Car Park.

The men are currently being walked out of bush land, a process which is expected to take a couple of hours.

Do the search and rescue people and the police get compensated from these individuals for their stupidity for the cost incurred to find them ? I bet not, and its long overdue for the user pays system if they need to be rescued.

Fair go PB.... People make mistakes and there should be some level of understanding by society. If they make the same mistake twice then perhaps they should cover the costs.
