Man critical after Newnham crash

06 Feb, 2012 07:39 AM
A man is in a critical condition in the Launceston General Hospital following a single-vehicle crash on the East Tamar Highway near Newnham early this morning.

About 1.20am this morning, a 1998 Nissan wagon, which was travelling south on the highway, left the road near the Newnham Connector and hit three gum trees, knocking two of them to the ground.

Two male occupants of the vehicle were taken to the LGH - a 30-year-old man from Waverley in a critical condition, while a 29-year-old man from Launceston had non life-threatening injuries.

Inquiries into the crash are continuing.

Police would like to hear from anyone who saw the crash or the vehicle before the incident to contact them on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
