ONE in 25 Tasmanians "loves" the smell of manure, according to a survey conducted on behalf of an air-freshener manufacture.
The Galaxy Research poll interviewed 257 people living in Tasmania and Victoria between the ages of 25 to 64.
It found 55 per cent of respondents would tell friends and family if their house stunk but would not eat there if that was the case.
Contrary to the international belief that the waft of prawns cooking on the barbie is quintessentially Australian, the survey found 41 per cent of Tasmanians and Victorians think eucalyptus best smells of Australia.
Half this number thought the smell of used nappies more bearable than stinky sneakers.
