Ms Forrest said she would chair the inquiry committee, which planned to examine last year's review of the company by the Auditor-General and the half-yearly financial report.
"The Auditor-General highlighted a number of matters of concern, especially the decline of operating cash flows, which are certainly not sustainable into the future," she said.
Ms Forrest said the committee would also look at the effect the uncertainty in the forest industry was having on the state-owned company.
She said the abolition of the Mersey District division would also be scrutinised.
