Hydro to flush First Basin

08 Feb, 2012 01:32 PM
Hydro Tasmania will release water from the Trevallyn Dam this afternoon in a bid to flush the contaminated First Basin.

The move comes in response to further high readings of bacteria, which were confirmed by a laboratory this afternoon, recorded in the latest round of tests conducted by Launceston City Council officers.

After a request from the council Hydro Tasmania will release 8 cumecs of water from the dam starting at 3.30pm today and continuing for approximately six hours.

Water levels in the Cataract Gorge are likely to remain elevated for approximately 12 hours.

Thanks Hydro Tasmania,,,

This matter regarding long term waterflow levels and the need to release a greater volume of water from the Trevallyn Dam really needs to be addressed.

This cooperative and proactive response, demonstrated by Hydro Tasmania shows what can be done...Thanks Hydro Tasmania.

Why not flush out the council and the government as well, now that would be something really useful LOL

We should not need to go, "cap in hand", to ask Hydro for a proper water flow down our Gorge.

It has been our general complacency and Hydro's apparent obstinancy that caueses this recurring need.

It ain't good enough, is it?
