The moratorium on these forests and negotiations between Tasmanian Forests Intergovernmental Agreement (TFA) signatories was due to end today but both governments had agreed to extend the deadline at the signatories' request.
Resources Minister Bryan Green announced today that the current Conservation Agreement had also been extended.
"To avoid any uncertainty about the conservation status of the areas protected under the Conservation Agreement, it has been agreed to extend the existing agreement through to 31 August 2012,'' he said.
