TWO cray fishermen have escaped with minor injuries after a series of waves capsized their boat yesterday.
The Dover men, aged 39 and 41, were checking craypots north of the Pieman River on the West Coast when their 4.5-metre boat overturned.
The pair managed to activate their emergency position indicating radio beacon before being swept to shore near the mouth of the Interview River.
The incident occurred about 10.30am yesterday.
Both men were wearing life jackets.
The incident follows the death of a cray fisherman last week near Couta Rocks, also on the West Coast, after his boat was hit by a huge wave.
Search and Rescue Senior Constable Josh Peach said the men involved in yesterday's incident said they were in the water for about half an hour before making their way to shore.
He said one man received a nasty hit to the head, thought to be due to impact with the boat.
Senior Constable Peach said the men were flown to Strahan and were left with instructions to see a doctor in case stitches were needed for the head injury.
