Bikinis, budgie smugglers in world record attempt

13 Nov, 2009 10:57 AM
SYDNEY - More than 200 men and women dropped their business attire to don budgie smugglers and bikinis in central Sydney yesterday in a tilt at the Guinness world record for the largest swimwear parade.

One man was dragged from the crowd in Martin Place as organisers implored onlookers to join the assault on the record. "It's the Aussie way," he said. "I wasn't so keen at first, but I feel like it's my patriotic duty."

The semi-naked folk made a brave display, but the line-up fell well short of the record of 281 set in Las Vegas.

Their efforts were not entirely in vain, with funds raised for the Australian Indigenous Mentoring Experience.
