WANT to learn more about beer and wine?
A new addition to the Festivale program is offering the opportunity to do just that in Launceston this week, as well as providing a more in-depth experience for patrons, according to those on the event committee.
The new wine and beer tasting masterclasses will be held at Northern Tasmania's premier food and wine event on Saturday and Sunday and will take place at the Albert Hall.
The J. Boag & Son brewery is hosting one of the seven masterclasses and its Four Beers, Four Cheese masterclass was the first to sell out.
Brewing manager Robbie Carnegie said the 45-minute masterclasses were great for people who wanted to find out more about the beverages and to talk to those in the industry.
``It's a bit more of an in-depth experience,'' she said.
``It gives people the opportunity to ask questions and have that more personalised experience around tasting wines or beers.''
Festivale event and sponsorship executive Dearne Fox said the committee was always trying to come up with exciting new ways to value-add to the event program.
``I think it's a really good way to let people experience what they wouldn't normally experience,'' she said.
``If it goes well this year, we'll look at expanding it next year.''
Places are still available in selected masterclasses, although spots are limited.
