Scat find supports Wesley Vale sighting

A SCAT found at Wesley Vale has tested positive for fox DNA, the Tasmanian Fox Eradication Program revealed yesterday. The scat was collected by a Primary Industries and Water investigator on May 6 this year who was investigating a possible sighting in the area. A trained detector dog gave the scat a positive "sit response", sending the sample to the head of the queue for analysis at the University of Canberra. Positive results were received on Wednesday, an Eradication Program spokesman said. It was the first physical evidence collected in the area although fox-positive scats had been found in nearby Hawley Beach last year and in Spreyton in 2007 and 2008.
