DJ determined to mix up quite a storm

10 Feb, 2012 03:00 AM
ARIA award-winning DJ and four-time Australian DMC champion Dexter Febay will deck Launceston's audiences tonight as he scratches, mixes and delivers his world-class performance at the Northern Club.

Febay will hit the town after playing in Hobart last week. ``I've been DJing since I was 12, it's the only thing I've ever done,'' he said. ``I'll leave a record alone if I'm putting together a DJ or scratch routine and it doesn't sound better than the original.''

Febay is promising some surprises for attendees, as well as an encore _ where he has promised to produce a picture of himself playing in the sandpit as a child.

``Basically I've been playing for 21-22 years, it's worth listening to that many years of music crammed into 90 minutes,'' Febay said.

``I just don't get sucked in to the ways and trends of DJ culture.''
