Art features at forest festival

31 Jan, 2012 03:00 AM
QUIRKY art installations are set to be an attraction to rival the music at the Jackeys Marsh Forest Festival this weekend.

The festival combines music, entertainment, art, workshops and environmental sustainability.

Organised by volunteer group Friends of Jackeys Marsh Inc, the festival was first held in 1983 in response to an announcement that the Jackeys Marsh Valley forests would be logged.

After a 10-year hiatus, the festival was relaunched three years ago.

Art trail co-ordinator Ralf Haertel said the art had become an integral part of the festival.

``It's a wonderful marriage between visual art and the music aspect of the festival,'' Mr Haertel said.

The trail will feature 15 art installations to lead patrons from the festival site the foothills of Quamby Bluff.

Artists include Liz Russell-Arnott, Vicki West, Sonja Hindrum, Martin Cole, Ceci Edwards, Brian Abraham, Jo Anglesey, Niecy Brown, Steve Colwell and Linda Barker.
