SKILLS Institute staff will on Thursday be briefed on a round of up to 40 redundancies to meet a budget deficit.
Skills Institute chief executive Malcolm White said he would meet staff and unions across 11 centres statewide to discuss the necessary voluntary redundancy packages which were revealed last week.
The redundancies come as the state government completes a review of the institute.
``Costs have been growing faster than our revenue and it is already a tight economy,'' Mr White said.
``A lot of our income is contestable meaning we need to apply for tenders and this makes it hard to really predict what our income will be.''
A review into vocational education and training undertaken last month by education minister Nick McKim is due to be released in April.
The review will be focused on a facility's efficiencies and Mr White said it would not help the institute's financial issues.
