PUPILS at Trevallyn Primary want to teach the people who burgled and vandalised their school a lesson.
Principal Cheryl McFadzean said the school's cleaners turned up early on Tuesday morning to find that overnight someone had broken windows and glass doors, graffitied walls and stolen electrical goods.
Some of the classrooms that were damaged are being built for the school's early childhood program under the federal government's Building the Education Revolution scheme.
"It was confronting for students," Mrs McFadzean said.
"They have a focus on caring for our school and the environment, and obviously certain people in our community are not so caring."
The incident prompted a combined grade 1 and 2 class to write letters to The Examiner to express how they had been affected.
One seven-year-old wrote: "It has hurt everyone's feelings, even me."
While the school of 420 students has been victim to vandalism previously, it is not a regular occurrence.
Mrs McFadzean said a stolen laptop computer and two digital cameras would have to be replaced.
"It's frustrating, disappointing and confronting," she said.
Anyone with information on the burglary should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800333000.
