After months of rehearsal, about 40 grade six pupils performed in the J Rock section at the of the Rock Eisteddfod Challenge at the Derwent Entertainment Centre on Friday night, walking away with three awards.
School principal Cheryl McFadzean said the group won awards for excellence for choreography, soundtrack and costuming character.
``They did a fabulous job, they were full of enthusiasm and really committed themselves to it, they were really well rehearsed,'' Ms McFadzean said.
However, she said pupils weren't always enthusiastic about the eisteddfod.
``It's a compulsory thing for all our year 6 pupils. At the start there were a lot of reluctant students but as time went on they all started to get into it and commit to it,'' she said.
``For some, it is wonderful to see that increase in their confidence _ the best thing they get out of it is getting an award for putting in the effort and working together.''
