Man drowns while working on yacht

A MAN drowned just 20m from the wharf at Ulverstone yesterday. Police said the man, 66, was carrying out some maintenance on a yacht moored in the Leven River when he became stuck under the vessel about 3.20pm. Emergency services were called and the police were able to free the Ulverstone man from beneath the boat and take him to shore. Tasmania Ambulance Service officers attempted to revive the man but were unsuccessful.
