02 Sep, 2010 02:03 PM
A 16-year-old girl who bashed and robbed a woman in Invermay's Heritage Park in February was sentenced to 16 months' detention in the Launceston Supreme Court yesterday.

The girl, who was 15 at the time of the offences, was convicted of aggravated robbery, aggravated armed robbery and receiving stolen property, after pleading guilty to each offence.

The aggravated armed robbery occurred when the offender robbed a young woman of $5 on George Town Rd in Mowbray, while wielding a baseball bat.

The crimes took place over a 12-hour period between February 1 and 2 this year.

The offender has already served seven months of her sentence while in custody at Ashley Detention Centre since February 3.
