TWO people who pleaded guilty to failing to report the killing of Zhang Yu last year received suspended jail sentences.
In November, John Edward Mollineaux, 44, who lived in the flat below Papadopoulos in New Town at the time of the murder, received a six month wholly- suspended sentence, on the condition that he be of good behaviour for two years.
Mollineaux, the first person in Tasmania to be convicted of the crime of failing to report a killing, gave evidence during Williams's trial.
He told the jury that when he went for a walk at 5am on June 25, he saw a car backed up to the stairs of Papadopoulos' flat and that he saw two men carrying "a long object rolled up in two rugs" down the stairs.
He also told the jury he held the boot of the car open for Papadopoulos and Mr Williams.
Under cross examination, Mollineaux told the court he later thought Papadopoulos had murdered his girlfriend.
Papadopoulos's girlfriend, Jazmin Iris Haygarth, 18, who lived with Papadopoulos at the time, was away on the night of the murder, the court heard last week.
She was later charged with failing to report the killing of Ms Yu and was sentenced in December last year.
Haygarth, of Moonah, also received a six month wholly- suspended sentence on the condition she was of good behaviour for a period of two years.
