SYDNEY - The spate of gun violence in Sydney continues, with two men shot in separate incidents on Australia Day and police again finding witnesses statements hard to come by.
A 24-year-old man was shot twice in his leg outside a home in Guildford about 10.15pm on Thursday.
Police said the victim went outside after a vehicle pulled up at the premises and someone called out.
Neighbours heard a number of shots followed by a cry of pain.
It is understood he was struck twice in the leg and a parked car was peppered with at least seven bullets.
Police would not say if the victim co-operated with the investigation, but reports indicate he had recently been released from jail.
The attack may be linked to shootings last year.
Also on Thursday, a man turned up at Auburn Hospital about 5pm with a gunshot wound in the back.
He refused to make a statement to police.
Detectives arrested Ahmed Al-jubouri, 21, about 1.30am yesterday outside a house in Lidcombe, in relation to the incident.
He was charged with concealing a serious indictable offence and being an accessory after the fact.
Mr Al-jubouri was granted bail in Burwood Local Court on Thursday and ordered to appear in court again on Monday.
At least 12 shootings have occurred in Sydney's west and south-west in January, including nine in eight days, with no direct arrests.
