David James Bramich, 41, pleaded not guilty to one count of animal cruelty for allegedly failing to seek veterinary care for the injured white short-haired cat on January 17 this year.
Magistrate Tim Hill found the complaint proved after a hearing at the Launceston Magistrates Court yesterday.
Bramich did not offer any evidence in his defence.
Mr Hill ordered that he pay a $400 fine and $50 in costs.
He also banned Bramich from owning any domestic animal, except for the dog that he already owns, for two years.
