Andrew Robert Muirhead, 34, of Sandy Bay, has been charged with one count of using a carriage service to access child pornography material.
The ABC News website is reporting that Mr Muirhead has taken unpaid leave.
Mr Muirhead will not present the national TV show on ABC Television, nor the breakfast program on ABC Local Radio in Hobart pending the legal proceedings, according to the website.
The Collectors program on ABC1 will not be screened until further notice.
Originally from Sale in Victoria, Muirhead was charged by the Australian Federal Police after they seized computer equipment from his home on Tuesday.
Mr Muirhead has been bailed to appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court on August 2.
