A Legana man has been killed in a two-vehicle crash in the state's North-West.
The 41-year-old man was riding a black KTM motorcycle when, according to police, he lost control on a series of curves on Cradle Mountain Road, 11.6 kilometres from Moina about 12.20pm today.
Police say that the motorcycle crossed into the path of an oncoming vehicle - an east-bound VW Transporter driven by a 52-year-old Queensland man.
The motorcyclist is believed that have been killed instantly.
The occupants of the motor vehicle were uninjured.
Cradle Mountain Road was closed for almost three hours while investigations into the collision took place and the scene cleared.
Police accident investigators attended along with Forensic Services, MAIB personnel and police and SES crews.
Weather and road conditions at the time were good.
Police would like to speak to anyone who saw a group of four motorcycles travelling on Cradle Mountain Road to contact the Burnie Accident Investigation Section or the police contact number 131 444.
The name of the deceased has not been released and an inquest has been opened into the matter.
